Setup Geometry

The Math (Orthogonal Correction)

When you tilt the top plate, you are changing the plane in which the base plate operates. To achieve the correct print angles (A & B), the physical tilt of the base plate must be mathematically corrected.

Top Plate Settings:
$\theta_{Top} = Angle_A$
$Stack_{Top} = L_{Top} \times \sin(\theta_{Top})$
Base Plate Settings:
$\theta_{Base} = \arctan(\tan(Angle_B) \times \cos(\theta_{Top}))$
$Stack_{Base} = L_{Base} \times \sin(\theta_{Base})$
Machinist's Tip

Always set your Base Plate first, then indicate it to verify. Only set the Top Plate once the Base Plate is locked in. Ensure the gauge blocks are wrung together and seated securely under the rolls.
